A Hero
September 7, 2004 11:12 PM ETThere has been much talk of heroism of one sort or another the last few months.
God Bless his brave soul.

A challenge!
August 4, 2004 07:05 PM ETGot an email today from Robert A. Barrett. It goes like this:
would you like to put some money where your mouth is? If so, let's bet $500.00 on the outcome of the election. Come on, don't be a chump, lets bet. I'll take Kerry and you take that pathetic loser weener you call president. Let's go R
Tell ye what, Robert. $500 is a little rich for me, being as how I might end up having to cover others before this is all through, and it's only August. How about this?
I'll bet $100 that President Bush will be re-elected. If I'm right, you agree to donate $100 to Spirit of America. If I'm wrong, I'll pay $100 to the charity of your choice.
Bet me?
Comments are open. Let's do this right out in the open. :)
To my fellow Spirit of America bloggers: if you're going to make friendly wagers on the election, how about making SoA the beneficiary? That way all Americans win, no matter who ends up President.

Unintended consequences
July 31, 2004 06:57 PM ETI saw a fascinating little tidbit on FOX this afternoon. They were talking to former Ambassador Mark Ginsberg, a Middle East analyst that is often on their shows.
Ambassador Ginsberg was relating how he had spent quite a bit of time on Al Jazeera TV during the Democratic convention. The cool part is not only did they interview him, they had call-in questions from viewers from all over the Arab world. The viewers had never seen anything like this and were full of questions about what was going on. You'd maybe have expected the focus to be on America the Great Satan, but no, it was American Civics 101 they wanted to talk about.
Coolness. :)

Post-Convention Prognostications
July 30, 2004 12:00 AM ETA number of bloggers, having just watched Kerry's acceptance speech, are now predicting poor tidings for the Democrats.
American Digest claims an "Inevitable Bush Blowout", and soundfury predicts an implosion.
After having watched the convention, I stand by my post of April 28:
"I conclude that Bush is going to win very big. much bigger than the pundits think right now."

"This is what you support"
July 28, 2004 07:03 PM ETMohammed at Iraq the Model has a post that I think everyone should read. He tells the pure, simple, honest truth.
