"Allies, or all lies?"

That's my paraphrase of this lovely one from Steven Den Beste, referencing this story:

Powell has gone to Europe, and yet again gotten his nose pushed in:

NATO allies hedged Friday on assuming a peacekeeping role in Iraq, deferring a decision until after an interim Baghdad government takes over in July. Secretary of State Colin Powell, who urged the 26-nation alliance to intervene, said he thought it was unlikely NATO would take on the role unless the new Iraqi government approves.

In other words, "We'd be happy to help an independent Iraqi government, but we'll be damned if we'll help you, America."

Of course, a lot of them are already helping us. Quite a few nations which are members of NATO already have forces in Iraq helping us out.

For the rest, are they allies, or are they all lies?

Apparently Europe has learned NOTHING in the last several years. I'm seriously considering adding "US out of NATO" just below "US out of the UN" at top-left.

You tell me, "Allies or All Lies"?

Me, I think the answer is self-evident.

"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

FOX anchor Julian Phillips is apologist for Fallujah animals

I was aghast to hear Fox & Friends anchor Julian Phillips this morning, commenting on Fallujah, say something to the effect that mutiliation is something that happens in war, implying that this action was just something to be expected. Boys will be boys and all that. Or maybe he meant to imply that our guys do that too. After all, they're at war.

Grrrrr!

Mutilation IS NOT something that "happens in war". No moral soldier engages in deliberate mutilation. Mutilation is something done by "human" animals.

Phillips is engaging in typical Lefty apologist moral relativism crap.

To make it worse, his co-anchors didn't bat an eye.

This comment was worthy of [spit] the BBC or [spit] CNN, but not of FOX.

Julian Phillips, you owe America an apology.

So much for "mercy" from terrorists

Remember when Spain caved to the terrorists and elected a Socialist government a couple weeks ago? And then the new Prime Minister announced that Spanish troops would be pulled out of Iraq? As a result, the terrorists rewarded the new PM with the announcement that they would spare Spain any further terrorist operations.

Well, so much for that. A new bomb was found on a Spanish rail line today.

Spain, wake up. Take a clue pill.

Everyone else around the world who thinks you can "negotiate" with terrorists, pay attention.

Heh! "Kerry! Kerry! he's our man..."

I love this post over at SondraK's.

Show this to folks who think it "won't make much difference" if Kerry is elected. [shudder]

The right thing in Fallujah

Yeah, I was as angry as anyone.

Steven Den Beste sets my head on straight, again.

Go Read This. It's important.

UPDATE:
See this posting over at Belmont Club.

One thing that many forgot in the heat of all this is that the terrorists did this to the 1st Marine Division.

If they had the whole world to choose from, they couldn't have picked a tougher, or more professional, enemy.

I know the Marines will make them rue the day. And they will do it coldly, calmly, professionally. In full accordance with the rules of war and the UCMJ.

And lessons will be drawn from Fallujah, by the terrorists, and by their supporters and admirers around the world.

But it won't be the lessons they intended.

Quite the contrary.

No wonder we have troubles with Arab cultures

Roger Simon passes along a report that 80% of the Arab world can't read.

Wow.

Now yeah, it's clear the report isn't a "study" or any such thing. It's the claim of one guy with a lot of experience in the region. But even allowing for some hyperbole, this could explain a lot.
